Blue Painted Cabinetry

This scheme runs the contrast harder. Light oak on the perimeter keeps the upper half of the room bright, while a charcoal island grounds the middle of the floor and takes the wear that an island always takes.
The glass fronted doors on the island are the detail worth noticing. Turning the back of an island into display storage changes what the piece is: it stops being a run of cabinets and starts behaving like a sideboard.
A dark stone top ties the island to itself rather than to the perimeter, which is the right call when the two finishes are this far apart. Matching everything would have flattened the contrast the design depends on.
